How to write a Business Case that will get approved!
Do you need to write a Business Case but don’t know how to? Do you find it infuriating that your manager or the executive team ask for Business Cases but don’t tell you what they want to see or why? Only then to get rejected for it “not being compelling enough”. Well you are not alone!
I write a lot of Business Cases in my job but also hold the internal record of never having one rejected by the Board (unlike many others). But it took a long time to get to this point so I wanted to share my experience and tricks with you as I found most help lacking. A good business is there to build support and get your good idea approved by someone important.
Here are my big findings that typically people get wrong when writing a Business Case.

Not Following the Structure
Many organisations have some form of Business Case template or at least the one they used the last time. The most important thing is to follow the structure. If you are presenting to a Committee or Board they most likely see a lot of Business Cases.
